Here’s how it works…
When and where does the book club meet?
The book club will “meet” on Facebook. Click here to join the group. It’s a closed group, so only members will be able to see posts and make comments. There are no set meeting times. You can sign on and chime in as often or infrequently as you like. Feel free to invite any friends who might enjoy it, too.
We will periodically have face to face meetings for whoever is interested around the Auburn-Opelika area (think coffee shops, book stores, parks, and restaurants). You’re welcome to attend and bring a friend whenever you’d like!
How does an online book club work?
Our goal is to read a book every other month. So, six books a year. Each week, we’ll post discussion topics or Facebook live videos. You are always welcome to post new topics or questions, but please refrain from posting any spoilers, as everyone will read at their own pace! You can participate in these at your leisure, right from home!
2020
- September/October: We Were the Lucky Ones by Georgia Hunter
- November/December: Such a Fun Age by Kiley Reid
2021
- January/February: Untamed by Glennon Doyle
- March: The Woman in the Window by A.J. Finn
- April: The Four Winds by Kristin Hannah
- May: The Wife Upstairs by Rachel Hawkins
- June: People We Meet on Vacation by Emily Henry
- July: Malibu Rising by Taylor Jenkins Reid
Books can be purchased in any format you chose. We highly recommend supporting local by visiting Auburn Oil Company Booksellers, Auburn Public Library, or the Lewis Cooper Jr. Memorial Library.
We will ALWAYS welcome recommendations and will be having a title vote for following months.
What if I already read the book/have a super busy month/don’t like the book selection?
You can sit out at any time, for any reason. If you already read the book, feel free to chime in on the discussion. If you’re too busy or just don’t like the selection, just jump back in whenever you want! There is no required participation!
I want to join but I’m not a mom/don’t live in the Auburn-Opelika area.
That’s ok. You don’t have to be a mom or live locally to join. Everyone is welcome!
Can I post new questions/comments about the book?
Absolutely! Please do. We just ask that you don’t post any spoilers ahead of the suggested reading schedule.
Can I post something off topic?
Sure, just as long as you’re not promoting a business/event/item for sale/ISO. Also, any personal attacks will not be posted. Off topic posts are a great way to get to know the other members!
