Have you been looking for a list of festivities or events to celebrate this fall? Look no further!  We have gathered a list of Auburn and Opelika Halloween Festivities to help your family have fun this season. Explore our list below for October Events.

September 28- October 2: Lee County Fair

October 4, 3:30 pm: Auburn Public Library Family Fun Movie 

Join the Auburn Public Library for a Family Movie: The Addams Family  (2019) Rated PG, 86 minutes, animated

October 7, 3:30 pm: Auburn Public Library Creepy Crawlers 

The Auburn University Entomology Department will lead a fun and educational show-and-tell program featuring all manner of creepy crawlers!

October 8, 6:30 pm: Spring Villa Park Fright Night 

Enjoy a night out with just the adults for a horror movie at Spring Villa Park! This year they are showing Wrong Turn (rated R).

October 9, 6:00pm: Monkey Park Family Movie Night 

A spooky, family friendly night featuring a kid friendly Halloween movie (Monster House) and train rides ($2/person) around the decorated park.

October 12, 5:00 pm: Auburn Public Library Spooky Magic Show

Magician and storyteller, Tommy Johns, will delight the audience with a not-to-spooky presentation, stories and fun!

October 14-15, 6:30 pm: Pine Hill Cemetery Latern Walking Tour

Join your neighbors at this biennial event where cemetery “residents” tell the story of early Auburn. Hear from founder Judge John Harper and others and see where five university presidents rest. This is a family-friendly walking tour through this historic cemetery, lit with candles, where you can learn interesting facts about Auburn. The tour is planned for two nights, Thursday, October 14, and Friday, October 15, from 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. Pine Hill Cemetery is located on Armstrong Street. Tickets are $10 at the gate /$5 for students. Park at East Samford School to walk or trolley to the cemetery. Find us on Facebook or at www.auburnheritageassoc.org

October 16, 8:00 am: Town Creek Park Harvest Market

City Market invites the community, growers and consumers alike to join us again on Saturday, October 16th. City Market hosts local farmers, growers, and artists to sell their fresh, local and handmade products to community members.

 

October 20, 4:00 pm: Auburn Public Library Posh Pumpkins

Go and create your very own Posh Pumpkin using the supplies provided! Whatever your style, the possibilities are endless, all without using a carving knife! You’ll have the coolest pumpkin on the block! Pumpkins are available for the first 200 guests. You are welcome to bring your own pumpkin and use the supplies provided.

October 20, 6:00 pm: Parkway Baptist Church The Great Pumpkin Hunt

The Great Pumpkin Hunt is a clue-driven scavenger hunt in search of the elusive Great Pumpkin! During these times, we do not think it best overload teenagers in vehicles and drive all over town. So this year’s Pumpkin Hunt will be a walking challenge-driven hunt! Think “The Great Pumpkin Hunt” meets “The Amazing Race.” Students will be challenged to complete a series of tasks and the first team to complete all tasks will be given the final clue that leads them to the Great Pumpkin! The Great Pumpkin Hunt is open to all 6th – 12th graders! Register online now for $5. Hope to see you Wed., October 20th for another great hunt!

October 21, 6:00 pm: Covington Rec Center Halloween Drop In

Take your 3rd- 5th graders to the Opelika Covington Rec Center for a special occasion drop-in featuring food, fun and games. Take a trip through our haunted rec center…if you dare! Cost is $10 per child. 

October 22, 5:00 pm: Farmer in the Dell Pumpkin Patch AO Moms Family Fun Night 

Get your costumes ready and join us for a Family Fun Night at Farmer in the Dell Pumpkin Patch on Friday, October 22nd starting at 5:00 p.m. Each ticket holder will receive access to the Farmer in the Dell Pumpkin Patch and ALL patch activities. We will be hosting a costume contest, dinner is included in your ticket, and a feature presentation of “It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown” will wrap up the evening’s festivities. October 22, 6:00 pm: Opelika Sportsplex The Great Pumpkin Splash 

The Opelika SportsPlex Pool is transforming into a floating pumpkin patch! Pick a pumpkin and decorate it for Halloween. Bring your kids ages 6-12 to dive in and grab a pumpkin! The cost is $4 per person. Register by 10/18 to participate. 

October 22, 6:00pm : Kiesel Park Friday Fright Night Movie Night 

 An evening of spooky movies to get you in the mood for Halloween. The first feature Hocus Pocus (1993) will start at 6:15 p.m. and at 8 p.m. the second feature Seven(1995) will be shown. Patrons are encouraged to bring blankets or chairs to be comfortable, and concessions consisting of delicious food and tasty treats will be available for purchase to enjoy the movies. This event is FREE and open to the public. Kiesel Park is located at 520 Chadwick Lane in Auburn.

October 22-23, 5:30 pm: Kreher Preserve and Nature Park Halloween Enchanted Forest 

This fun, family-friendly Halloween event takes you on a magical hike in the Enchanted Forest where you will be greeted by costumed forest friends.  These nature-inspired characters will entertain you on how they “trick or treat” other animals and plants in the forest.  Dawn your costumes and good walking shoes, and enjoy some early Halloween fun!  Hot chocolate will be available for anyone bringing donations to our local food bank.  Remember to bring a flashlight. Hikes depart every 10 minutes between 5:30 and 7:30 PM, each lasting approximately 45 to 55 minutes.  Each time slot is limited to 20 people.  Please plan to arrive 15 minutes before your start time. Tickets are $7 per person; children 2 and under are free. Tickets are available on their website.  

October 23 (All Day): Pioneer Park Pioneer Day (Formerly the Syrup Sopping) 

Take a step back in time with demonstrations, good food, live music and a variety of vendors! Demonstrations will include making cane syrup, shelling corn, pioneer games, ice-cream making, and much more! And of course the buildings of Pioneer Park will be open for browsing. Come out and experience life when it was “slower”!

October 26, 6:00 pm: Opelika Sportsplex Fall Festival

Bring your kids ages 12 and younger for a fall festival and children’s carnival. There will be carnival games, vendors, entertainment, inflatables, candy, prizes, and more. Admission is free, but activities require the purchase of a wristband or tickets. $10 – All Access Wristband (unlimited access to all activities)$5 – Bag of 20 tickets (each activity costs 1-3 tickets) 25 cents – Individual tickets (each activity costs 1-3 tickets) 

October 27, 6:00 pm: Parkway Baptist Church Fall Festival

This is a FREE family-friendly event! Join them for games, inflatables, candy, food, and fun! Free food and drink vouchers will be provided at the Registration Table. 

October 28, 5:00 pm: Opelika Trick or Treat 

October 28, 5:30 pm: Lakeview Baptist Church All Saints Fair

All Saints Fair is a children’s fair with games, prizes, toys, and a pumpkin story! You won’t want to miss this wholesome night of family friendly fun! Registration is on the grassy field / non-ghoulish costumes allowed

October 28, 5:30pm: Auburn Public Library Ghoulish Gala 

Dress up in your favorite costumes and bring the whole family to the Auburn Public Library for a ghoulishly grand time! Attendees will enjoy family-friendly spooky storytelling. Following the stories, you’re invited to register for the Costume Parade and Contest! Prizes will be awarded for the best costume in four categories: infant-5 years, 6-11 years, 12 years & up, and group/family.

5:50 p.m. – Costume Parade and Contest

October 29, 6:00 pm: Opelika Sportsplex Tour De Fright Family Night Bike 

Bicyclers beware! Parents and children of all age are invited to bring their bike and take a ride on the haunted walking trail! Meet in the rear parking lot behind the Opelika SportsPlex. 

October 31, 4:30 pm: First Baptist Opelika Fall Festival on the Square
