Old and New packaging: The packaging and labels reflect the clean ingredients used in the products.

I don’t tout products often, in fact, I very rarely leave reviews. It is truly out of laziness rather than not wanting to praise some of the amazing items I have come across—like small mama businesses I frequent or services that make life easier.  Let me preface this post by saying this is not a sponsored post, but it is truly a recommendation from one mama to many, singing the praises of a product that I happened upon when my first daughter was about eight months old, and since finding it, has changed my life and our skin.

At one point in my life I worked in the personal care industry and was educated on all those no no, bad for you ingredients that are often found in our shampoos, conditioners, body wash and lotion.  When I was pregnant, I began my transition of not so natural products to more natural products.  Granted, natural and organic certifications for personal care items are a lot more vague than food items. Plus, a lot of the ingredients are very similar in spelling, which makes spotting the not so good ingredients rather difficult— but I started looking more closely at the packaging and reading the labels of the items I was purchasing.  As I slowly moved away from those products and began moving towards ones that had call outs like “no phthalates, parabens and sulfates,” and “made with clean ingredients”, I started to realize there are so many options for clean products available, but it took a while to recognize what actually felt the best on my skin.

Quickly, I started thinking about what I was going to be using on my newborns skin and started down the path of research for the top rated and cleanest baby care items; turns out, there are a plethora of brands and I venture to guess I have tried a significant amount of them.  When I came across the Tubby Todd All Over Ointment, it made such an impact on me that it has become a staple in our home not only for our babies but for mama as well.  It is the one product I will never run out of, and make sure I have multiple backups of.  The good news is, Tubby Todd offers subscription options so I can have it auto shipped on a cadence of my choice.

I do not recall where I first heard about the Tubby Todd brand, I do however remember looking at their site and thinking they have the best packaging and some of the most fun scents I have seen for kids, all with clean plant based ingredients.  Their products range from shampoo and conditioner to baby massage oil, chest rub and even bath bombs.  It truly is a line of personal care products for the entire family.  I read a few reviews on some of the best sellers from their lineup and when they had their 20% off sale, I ordered a few different items to try including the All Over Ointment.

From the reviews on the product detail page, mamas all around were having amazing results on their babies that have eczema prone skin.  There are mamas that have also used it for cradle cap or baby acne.  I decided to try it on my skin first.  I sometimes have dry patches around my nose that a dermatologist once told me was yeast based.  When I had a little breakout of it along my face and behind my ears, I applied the all over ointment and to my surprise the next day the redness and flakiness were gone.  The lotion is lightweight and goes on smoothly (a little goes a long way), it is not greasy and does not leave a white residue.

While our first daughter was fortunate not to have any skin issues, our second daughter was not.  When she started solids a few days later two small patches of dry skin showed up on her back like angel wings.  I immediately applied the ointment on those patches and within a few days they were gone.  She also gets horrific diaper rashes on a near constant basis.  The type that leave her bum looking like she sat on a hot iron, and that is just the start of them. Typically, after a few hours they begin to become raw and blistered leaving open sores and causing such pain for her that even a cool tub of water stings.  I have used every tube of diaper rash cream and nothing seems to help.  At one point, the diaper rash looked like yeast and I ended up taking her to the pediatrician.  She was given Nystatin to mix into the diaper cream for seven days.  After applying it 3 times a day for 5 days, I saw no improvement.  I decided I had nothing to lose and lathered her up with the ointment before bed. Literally the next morning, the diaper rash was gone.  I was shocked, this cream is magic.  I love this lotion and use it on everything from dry skin, to cooking burns, diaper rash and even my wrinkles.  But I never dug deep enough into the reviews to see if anyone had used it on diaper rashes.  I am here to tell you I do, and it works!

The reason I believe this ointment to be so successful, at least for diaper rashes, is that it is a true ointment and not a zinc-based diaper rash cream.  The zinc-based diaper rash creams are great for creating a barrier between the skin and the diaper but not necessarily great to heal skin.  It really seals and holds in hydration, which in my opinion is what helps soothe the irritated skin.

Here is the rub-a-dub dub on the Tub:

  • Made with natural, plant-based ingredients such as jojoba and camellia leaf extract.
  • Fragrance Free.
  • Great for eczema-prone skin, sensitive skin and diaper rashes.

I highly recommend trying this product if your little one is prone to eczema or diaper rashes.  But I also recommend it as an everything lotion.  You can purchase it here and at the bottom of the product page are the testimonials, photos and reviews of the item.  Since I have not put the good word out, I WILL be leaving a review on the Tubby Todd site touting how it has saved our little one’s bum and many other things, over and over.

If you are already a user, I would love to hear your feedback on the item or other ways you are using it.
