Are Weighted Blankets Worth the Hype?

0

Are weighted blankets worth the hype? YES. Run, do not walk, and get one now {Ollie’s has 15 pound weighted blankets for $49 right now}.

For my son, his weighted blanket helps with sensory processing disorder and it is very calming. For me, it helps with my anxiety.

So what does a weighted blanket feel like? It feels like a big hug… calming your vagus nerve, thus calming you. Though these blankets are often recommended for people on the Autism spectrum, I think every household needs one.

When in tantrum mode, I can lay the weighted blanket over my son and it calms him (it is not magic and does not stop the tantrum-but it certainly shortens the tantrum time). He also has weighted vests and we have found those help as well with his sensory processing disorder.

We have three weighted blankets in our home: 8 lb for my son, 20 pound one of the couch (we all share it) and I sleep under a 15 pound weighted blanket.

I cannot recommend weighted blankets enough for anyone who has anxiety, ADHD, sensory processing disorder, or for people who just need help unwinding and de-stressing at the end of the day!
