My Valentine Love Letter- A letter to my daughter…

My dear Katybug,

My person… God chose you!

You read that right, when my writing had to be done, I kept trying to write on my original topic, but God chose you, and who am I to argue. Besides, I have a few things I want to say to you.

I bet you don’t have the slightest clue, but it’s true, God gave me you!

You were the one who made me a Mama, more than 25 years ago. I was a mere 20-something years old the day you were born, and  you changed my world. You were a gift from God, my baby, my heart, and my best friend.

“We’ll be Friends Forever, won’t we, Pooh?’ asked Piglet.
‘Even longer,’ Pooh answered.”  – Winnie-the-Pooh

You my daughter, bring joy to my day, come what may. Many times lighting my way. Your gorgeous smile, your sparkling green eyes.

Believe it or not, when I look at you, I still see that little brown haired girl, with a twirl in her hair. You are so beautiful, inside and out.

My little Pocahontas!

I can close my eyes and picture your little hand that I held long ago.

God had you planned just for me. You see, you were made for me. I knew the minute I laid eyes on you, I had a best friend for life.

You’re braver than you believe and stronger and smarter than you think.”  – Winnie-the-Pooh

My dear Katybug,

My person, you didn’t disappoint…You have been that, and so much more. Your calmness and ability to go with the flow, was uncanny, unknowing to us our future path. It’s hard to put into words all the things I feel for you. All parents love their children, but YOU, I was given the stars and moon the day I became your Mama.

The little girl that you were and the woman you have become, is a force to be reckoned with. Your tenacity for life is remarkable and fierce.

You now, are about to become a Mama yourself, and I’ll be promoted to grandma-status.. What? How can that be?
I closed my eyes and the last time I checked, you were just three. As you move on into this part of your journey in life, I can’t wait to walk beside you and see you feel the love I’ve been telling you about so long.

Katybug,

You are my person. You have been everything that my dreams had for you.  Your heart is so simple and pure, often times wearing it right on your sleeve. All because you believe. You believe in people, the world and I see you, when you realize that sometimes things are not always good. Never let this old world steal your joy. Surround yourself with people who love you for who you are, and ditch those who make you feel bad about yourself. Never change who you are for anyone.

You my dear are so worthy, and deserving of all things good.  Always remember, I think I can, I think I could.

My dear Katybug,

My person, I cherish every minute I have with you.
Remember our walk to the abyss?? Muddy flip flops, in the dark. Many walks in a park.  I could forever be lost listening to you talk. Girls trips and sweets.

My dear Katybug,

My person, these words are for you! My child you are love.
Companionship. Simple closeness.
My dear daughter, you are kisses. Pure sweet kisses.
Love.

My dear Katybug,

My person, you are described by me as valor, a pillar of strength, courage, hope.
I see boldness, backbone, encourager, my right hand. Watching you grow up, I learned the true meaning of unconditional.

Our family has learned so deeply that words don’t matter. LOVE is action.
So, for this Valentines day, my love for you I put my words into action by writing them for you!
I’m so very proud and love you so much.

“If there ever comes a day when we can’t be together, keep me in your heart, I’ll stay there forever.”  – Winnie-the-Pooh

My dear Katybug,

My person, You can always depend on me, no matter what. I will help you figure things out. I will always love you no matter what.

I’ll love you forever, and like you for always,

Mama
